What is the name of your company?
Utterly Conkers
Where is your business based?
Hartley Wintney in Hampshire.
Why did you decide to set up your company?
After a long career in Technology marketing whilst writing children’s fantasy fiction in my spare time, I decided to go back to my first love, art. With greeting cards, I can combine my love of creating colourful characters and painting.
Writing a book is a long process, but with greeting cards you can see immediately if people like your work.
What is the Unique Selling Point of your business? What makes your products particularly special?
My watercolour illustrations are carefully hand painted which are stylish and fun; not always a common combination.
What is your best selling Greeting Card?
My best selling card features a Great Dane sitting with a Miniature Dachshund so this little and large pair are going to feature on more designs.
What do you like most about the industry?
Utterly Conkers is just launching but already I can see this papery world has a strong community feel, possibly because greeting cards are all about sending love into the world. It’s wonderful to be around such creative people.
How do you sell your products? (Online only, wholesale, via a physical shop etc)

Is there anything else that you would like to add/highlight?
I love painting greeting cards, knowing that I’m going to be part of those special messages sent to loved ones. I used to design greeting cards when I left university and spent a little time writing jokes for Emotional Rescue too, so it feels like I’ve come full circle, coming back to the industry twenty-ahem-five years later.
