The power of Instagram for greeting card businesses

Jan 28, 2024 | Uncategorised

The way that people engage with brands, products and businesses is changing, and social media is playing a key role.

According to 2023 data from Hootsuite, Instagram is the 8th most visited website in the world. It’s also the 4th most downloaded social media app (after Facebook, Youtube and Whatsapp) and there are over 2 billion active monthly users.

40% of Gen Z use Instagram or TikTok as their primary search engine, with the platforms likely to overtake Google for this age group. Gen Z is people currently aged 16-24. If they’re not your current customers, then they are the next generation of customers. Perhaps even more noteworthy is that 80% of Instagram users search for brands and products directly in Instagram (source: Embed Social).

Instagram is a visual platform, and it’s the perfect social media platform for greeting cards businesses. There are opportunities for designers to showcase ranges, for publishers to grow brand loyalty, for artists to gain direct feedback from consumers, for suppliers and retailers to strengthen relationships and, of course, for products to be sold. Sales can take place directly in Instagram and/ or well drive footfall to physical stores and click-through to e-commerce sites.
