Join our #Cardmitment campaign to encourage everyone to send cards this Christmas, and secure some press coverage to promote your business.
GCA members across the country are working on initiatives to remind people about the joy and importance of connecting with their loved ones through greeting cards particularly at Christmas. Through fun activities and events, we want greeting cards to receive as much news coverage as possible; reminding everyone about the joy of seeing those hand-written envelopes on the doormat!
We particularly want to remind everyone to buy and start writing their Christmas cards in November, a few a night, so that they are ready to post early, second class, and start a wave of Christmas card sending across the country.
So engage your customers and local community by joining in. And remember local press need local stories:
What you could do
- Read our #Cardmitment Toolkit for GCA Christmas ideas and initiatives to join in/adapt for your business
- Decide what you’re doing to support #Cardmitment and when you’d like to do it
- If appropriate, invite the local press down – a press release template is available on the Toolkit blog which you can download and tailor to your event.
- Send a short overview of what it is you’re thinking of doing to GCA’s press team, Nick and Andrea at Arena, as they might be able to help secure media coverage GCA@arena-pr.com
- It could also be an opportunity to get your MP Involved – invite them to your business/event, and tell them how much cards matter and how much we rely on an affordable, reliable and national Royal Mail service
- Ensure you get some fabulous pics to help tell your story – if the press don’t come and see you then you can send them the pics.
Below are a few examples of the type of pics the papers like to see – natural settings, fun and appealing. Ensure the picture tells your story!
More news story ideas!
The press need quirky, fun, relatable good news stories and they can be anything from….
- Visiting a local school, care home, community centre
- Giving a Christmas card to a special customer
- An initiative with a school or church
- Raising money for a local charity
- Christmas card event
- A local child wanting to spend a day in a card shop
- Donating Christmas cards to a school or an event
The more Christmas card initiatives happening, and the more GCA members sharing stories with the media, the more people will be reminded about the joy of cards – and to write and send their own Christmas cards!
Get together with your team and decide how you are going to generate a buzz in your community and support our #Cardmitment campaign this Christmas . And please share with Arena what you’re doing and they will be able to help you secure press coverage.
