In week 8 of lock-down ITV news reflected on the important part card sending is playing during the Corvid 19 lock-down, and how the card industry is playing it’s part in raising morale and supporting the NHS.
ITV regional news across the country talked about the importance of sending cards to keep in touch during lockdown. Reporter Lauren Hall reflected on the postive impact on moral card sending had had during WW1, leading to greeting cards being declared “essential to the war effort” during WW2 and escaping rationing. An interview with a postman in week 8 of lock-down talked about the increases the Royal Mail are seeing in social mail, as people send cards and letters to loved ones they can’t meet.
Lauren then spoke to families making and sending cards to during lockdown, and a care home manager who spoke about the joy for residents of opening cards, particularly at a time when they were feeling so isolated.
Lauren also visited greeting card printer Windles, who are manufacturing PPE alongside greeting cards during this lock-down period.
