Job Description

Job Overview
The Marketing and Events Coordinator will be responsible for member communication, maintaining and growing the GCA’s membership through marketing activities. The role includes event coordination, website and social media management, and basic graphic design work in line with brand guidelines.

All activities should contribute to the GCA’s mission, ensuring cost-effective operations while seeking opportunities to generate revenue for the organization.
This is a part-time role, 16.5 hours a week over 3 days, based at home. There will some travel in the UK for events and tradeshows.

Job Profile
Coordinate the day to day communication to the GCA’s members, including (but not limited to) maintaining the GCA websites and blog, build membership flow communication and events (such as welcome emails and virtual coffee mornings with council members) and respond to all enquiries as required.

Be responsible for delivering the GCA social media strategy and maintaining all affiliated accounts, including using the platforms to communication important messages and events, recruit membership and engage current members through engaging content and monitoring and responding to messages.

Develop marketing initiatives that add value to our members, encourages new members to join and also drives revenue, including creating events such as online workshops and industry partnerships.

Take a lead in coordinating GCA events such as the annual Conference and AGM.

Plan, create and send the GCA Newsletter and other e-marketing communication that highlights news, events and member benefits.

Attend industry events, including tradeshows, in order to meet our members, promote the benefits of the GCA and discover ways that the GCA can support them further, and recruit new members.

Provide support to the CEO and Council members when required, including leading sub-committees and ensuring that meetings operate effectively.

To undertake ad hoc projects as required in order to meet the needs of the organisation.

To contribute to process and systems development, through making suggestions and recommendations to the CEO, Board and Council members, in order to assist in the growth and success of the organisation.

To assist colleagues and to support the organisation generally, through undertaking additional duties and tasks from time to time as and when required.

Qualifications, Knowledge and Experience
Essential
• Experience in a marketing and/or events role
• Basic graphic design skills, with proficiency in Adobe Suite or similar tools.
• GCSE Maths and English (or equivalent) at Grade C or higher.
• Experience working within a team as well as independently.
• Ability to prioritise and manage time effectively.
• Excellent attention to detail and highly organised.
• Personable with excellent communication skills.

Desirable
• Experience working with a trade association or similar membership-based organization.

About the Greeting Card Association:
The Greeting Card Association (GCA) is the greeting card industry trade body, a not-for-profit organisation which works for the benefit of its members -Publishers, Retailers, Suppliers of materials/services to the industry, and Individual’s such as designers, sales agents and others.
The GCA is the voice of the UK greeting card industry, representing the industry with organisations that impact greeting card sales such as the media, Royal Mail, government and others, promoting, protecting and encouraging greeting card sending. It also develops initiatives to highlight the benefits of card sending including Thinking of You Week.

Our mission is to passionately support the growth and promotion of the greeting card industry.

The GCA supports its members to build their businesses, by providing a forum for them to promote their business, providing specialist information and access to recommended suppliers. The GCA’s website and events (online and in-person) provide opportunities for members to build knowledge and business relationships, keep up to date with industry issues and networking with others receiving specialist advice and support.

Our Purpose is to ensure the wellbeing of the greeting card industry and to protect and promote the absolute joy of sending and receiving a well-chosen card. Our vision is for everyone to feel connected by the sending and receiving of greeting cards.
