The GCA are keen to encourage everyone in our industry to think about visiting your children’s school, local colleges or indeed your former school or University, and talk about our industry to the next generation of greeting card senders!

For ideas and inspiration read about our project with the University of Hertfordshire.

The benefits of student presentations

We want to engage students of all ages with card sending, and ensure that card sending remains a strong British tradition.

It’s a great way to engage with your children/god-children/local school or college.

Also, for older students, we want to highlight the opportunities for jobs in our industry – encouraging new talent into our industry and raising the profile of greeting cards. Maybe visit your old college or University?

GCA presentation

GCA Council Members, Chris Bryan vice-president, Adriana Lovesy and Amanda Fergusson CEO, brought together a team of GCA members to engage with illustration students at University of Herts. Visit our How to get into the card industry blog to see the full story.

Below is a link to the presentation Chris, Adriana, Amanda and GCA member Grace Elphinstone, from Carte Blanche, delivered to the students at Herts.

The students were also given a brief (below) to respond to. This engaged the students further and also gave them valuable lessons about the process of designing a successful greeting card.

The brief was put together with a broader GCA team, including retailer House of Cards, printer Loxleys, and owner of Max Publishing and GCA Council member Jakki Brown. The winners of with the best 3 designs had their cards printed ready for sale, see GCA blog and PGBuzz for full story.

Why not get together with another GCA member and do a joint talk? Another publisher or your printer, local retailer or another business in your supply chain.

Alternatively get in touch with the GCA and we’d be delighted to help you. We could either join you or suggest tie-ups. Email Amanda at amanda@gca.cards
