The GCA’s Cardmitment campaign to protect and promote the greeting card industry has reached nearly 35 million people across the UK in 2024!

We have communicated our messages about the joy of sending, and receiving cards and the importance of a reliable and affordable postal service, via social media, in print and online news, and on radio and television!

Members waved the flag for the industry at Pride in London and Manchester, and also shared their business stories and their need for a reliable and affordable postal service. Iain Hamilton owner of Bewilderbeest (pictured above) joined members across the country reminding people to send cards.

Grace Jackson, welcomed ITV News reporter Lauren Hall into her businesses as part of a report that also featured GCA CEO Amanda Fergusson interviewed at Postmark Kings Cross, showcasing cards from several GCA members.

Heidi Early hosted ITV News at her north London store, with ITV also heading to south London to meet and interview Rosie Tate of Cath Tate Cards.

BBC Radio 4 spoke to David Falkner, MD of Cardology, GCA Council member and lead on the postal service sub-committee on 17th December.

The GCA has met and communicated regularly through the year with Royal Mail, Ofcom, government ministers and others to highlight the importance of a reliable and affordable postal service to the greeting card industry. See GCA’s response to Ofcom consultation here.

BBC Breakfast visited Paper Salad in Stockport, where owner Karen Wilson was able to share an insight into the process of creating a greeting card, and GCA CEO Amanda Fergusson spoke about the importance of the postal service to the greeting card industry and the consumers we serve. Sentiments Amanda also shared with Kay Burnley at Sky News.

The Sky News piece also shone a light on GCA members’ cards, as Amanda spoke about the grown in sales of singles greeting cards and highlighted a recent Hallmark survey that saw 63% of 16-24 year olds saying they were planning to send more Christmas cards this year. Kay was also delighted with the birthday card Amanda gave her on set.

This year in total the GCA’s Cardmitment media campaign has seen 166 pieces of broadcasted media on radio and TV, 137 pieces of print coverage and 96 pieces of online coverage. GCA Members can see all this coverage on GCA Cardmitment Media Coverage 2024
